Fisher Gallery Autumn Exhibition

 Pittenweem Rooftops

Opened by John Fisher in May 2000, the Fisher Studio & Gallery in Pittenweem is now in its ninth year. It shows work by a wide range of contemporary painters and applied artists, most of whom work in Scotland. While the majority of the exhibiting artists are well established and popular with collectors, the gallery also encourages new talented artists.

Most of the exhibitions feature the paintings of resident artist Jan Fisher who has exhibited widely in Scotland, in London and in Bristol. She taught in schools and colleges in the west of England before moving to the Highlands in 1973 where she found inspiration for the subjects of her work. Her oil paintings and watercolours explore ways of depicting the beauty and the drama of the Scottish landscape and seascapes off the Scottish coast.

The gallery  publishes a range of limited edition giclee prints.

The current exhibition continues with  paintings and craftwork, and introduces paintings by two young artists, Marie Louise Wrightson, winner of the Pittenweem Bursary in 2007, and Yvonne Healy, both with very promising careers ahead of them and selling well elsewhere. Also showing are two well established artists new to the Fisher Gallery,  Roland Fraser with exquisite wood work and Brian Baxter's bird watercolours.  Georgie Young and Jan Fisher are also taking part and later on the work of Isabella Colville.  Glass work from Paul Barcroft, ceramics from Oathlaw Pottery, Mary Chapelhow and Paul Marley, enamel work from Lewis Banks and driftwood clocks from Garry Brown.  The exhibition will continue on a "rolling" basis until the end of July when we'll be hanging the Pittenweem Arts Festival Exhibition opening on Friday 31 July at 7pm.                                         The Festival Exhibition will feature work by Jan Fisher, George Gilbert, James Fraser, Roland Fraser, Nicola Martin  and Marie Louise Wrightson.
