Opened by John Fisher in May 2000, the
Fisher Studio & Gallery in Pittenweem is now in its 13th year. It
shows work by a diverse range of contemporary painters and applied
most of whom work in Scotland. While the majority of the exhibiting
artists are well established and popular with collectors, the Gallery
also encourages young talented new graduates.
Most of the exhibitions feature work by the resident artist Jan
Fisher with paintings and drawings of the coast and landscape of
the British Isles. She works in oil, watercolour, pencil
The gallery publishes reproductions of paintings, including
views, by Jan and Anna Fisher,
as framed and un-framed limited edition high quality giclee
prints. These are available only in the Fisher Gallery, or (unframed) from the
website (See Print Pages).
EXHIBITION The Gallery will be open on a
three day a week basis through the winter months. We will always be
open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. At certain times over the
winter we will also open on Wednesday and Sunday, but if you are
wanting to visit the gallery on these days phone to check whether we
are open. We will return to six days a week from April 5th, when the
SPRING EXHIBITION will open.
During the winter we will be showing work
by some of our regular exhibitors. Currently we have work by Penelope Anstice,
Ethel Mary Webster, James Fraser, Susan Reid, John Nelson, Irene Penman & Jan Fisher. Examples of Craftwork in
the Exhibition are shown on the Exhibition 2 page of the website,
and include ceramics from Maralyn Reed-Wood, Oathlaw
Pottery, Selborne Pottery, Donald McIntyre, Michelle Freemantle,
Leonie MacMillan, Linda McGill, Mary Chapelhow, Simon Shaw, John
Kershaw and Paul Marley. Other craftwork shown includes enamelling by Lewis Banks, driftwood clocks etc by Garry Brown,
Wooden boxes by Dave McKeen, candlesticks by Belltrees Forge.
Mark Feely (The Weem Framer) is now based
in the Fisher Gallery. He offers a bespoke framing service, and has
a wide range of picture mouldings, mount boards, etc.
