PITTENWEEM ARTS FESTIVAL EXHIBITION
This exhibition was
open in fisher gallery 2 during the Festival - August 7-15 and the following week
until Sunday 22 August. Some of these works have now been transferred to
the Fisher Studio & Gallery where the exhibition will continue until
19 September.
Now showing
in Fisher Studio & Gallery is work by established contemporary artists
such as David
Smith, a Glasgow artist known for his bold and loose
interpretations of harbours and boats around the Scottish islands and
mainland, immediately capturing the viewer's attention. He is a prolific painter,
mainly in watercolour or oils, exhibits widely throughout the UK, and
this is his first showing with the Fisher Gallery.
Elaine
Allison has made a series of 3-D works exploring memory,
identity and place, using found objects, labels, photographs, drawings
and her family tree. Seemingly worthless objects are
incorporated into works which bestow significance, and satisfying
pleasure. Some are free-standing, some wall-mounted. Elaine
often works in collaboration with sculptor Patricia Bray on
site-specific installations. This is her first showing with us. Jack Cove is an artist whose landscapes and interiors appeal to
lovers of traditional oil painting. He has an eye for essential detail
as well as the "bigger picture", as seen in his painting of
Buchanan Street from the Theatre. He hails from the Scottish Borders, where
among his many talents, he also teaches Tango dancing. Jack has
exhibited widely and has many admirers and collectors.
Alan Faulds, sculptor extraordinary, has created some
free-standing pieces to amaze and amuse. He is well-known to his many
collectors. See Exhibition
