Jan Fisher
NDD ATD
Jan Fisher was born in Coventry and studied Fine Art at Coventry and
Art education at Kings, Newcastle, and came to Scotland in
1973. She has lived in many remote parts of Highland
Scotland - Gairloch, Melvaig and Ratagan in Wester Ross, Braemar,
and Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, and beside the Crinan Canal,
Argyll. She now lives in
Pittenweem, on the Fife coast. The Scottish landscape, sky and seascapes,
the Forth Estuary, the
changing light and seasonal weather, are the inspiration for most of her paintings. She is now settled
with a studio in Pittenweem in the East Neuk of Fife,
where the rocky coastline and sandy beaches, the big skies over the Firth of Forth, and the picturesque costal villages
of Fife - Elie,
St. Monans, Pittenweem, Anstruther, and Crail - provide a constant
inspiration. She works predominantly in oil and watercolour, and occasionally
in acrylic. Drawings in pencil, charcoal or ink are used for preparatory information prior to painting in the studio. Selected paintings are reproduced as limited
edition giclee prints, available in the gallery.
The first six paintings shown are included in
the Fisher Gallery Summer Exhibition which opens on Saturday June
14th.
